I can't speak for all hiring people out there or for anyone in the biotech industry, but I can tell you what I looked for when I was interviewing people for positions in a firm a few years ago. I checked the resume and transcripts for technical and legal acumen. I would also look at work experience to further assess detailed familiarity with real world applications. While I may have known a few schools with good IP programs (particularly regionally local schools), I immediately recognized top law schools on resumes -- independent of any reputation specific to IP programs. Once a candidate passed muster on these criteria, the most important consideration was the writing sample. As the top partner there once remarked, "we see too many good candidates to have to teach people how to write; they should have that skill before coming here." I hope that helps. Regards.
: I recently graduated with a B.S. in molecular biology from a top 25 school and now work in a biotech company. I'm interested in attending law school, however is the overall rank more important than the focus area rankings, such as Franklin Pierce Law Center? Are there good biotech. jobs avaiable to those who graduate in IP from this school? : Thanks : hill
