Any attorney would know that such information is strictly confidential. Listing patent numbers would identify the clients. This is a wholly inappropriate request and I would be wary of any attorney not fully aware of the ethical issues involved. : Having said that, the distinction between individual and corporate gets a bit blurred at the start-up stage. A number of my clients have gone from 1 or 2 founders to a substantial company based at least in part on the portfolio I was able to help them build. : Will I identify them? Of course not! And don't trust any attorney that would ask another attorney to divulge client confidences. That, and comingling client funds, are rewarded with "virtual automatic disbarment" as my ethics professor drilled into me. : I will say this, however. Merely having a patent and nothing more (no attempt to start your own company and produce the product, provide the service yourself) is a long-shot proposition. I've seen it succeed more than once, but the odds are against it. : One final note on the value of patents. If I owned even a small fraction of the value of the patents I've written (considering their estimated value in merger and acquisition negotiations), I would have retired long ago. : I hope that answers the question. : Regards.
