: Thanx for your response. I happen to be on an H1B visa. Is there a way out since the USPTO employs only US citizens (so is does the info on their website say)
: Pliz help. This is a career I am realy interested in getting into.

: : : I am a PostDoc at The Scripps reasearch Institute. My specialty is Immunology. I am interested in joining a law firm as a patent agent and am particularly interested in a law firm which will pay for my night-time law school. I have a wide set of skills and training, initially as a Veterinary doctor, and subsequently, my PhD in Immunology. Currently, I am investigating the role of innate immune molecules in HIV-dementia and CNS immunity. I would appreciate any help or leads anyone can offer.

: : my best advice is to get a job with the PTO when they start hiring this october. You can work there for a year and learn patent law. Then just bail out to a law firm after a year. Believe me they will want you. I get job offers ALOT. I just want my 4 years before I walk.
: : g'luck

Hi Fish and Neave in Manhattan, Palo Alto and Washinton DC have a patent agency trainee program and they pay for your law school at night.
