If you have the technological prerequisites, you don't need to be a lawyer to take the patent bar. If you pass you become a patent agent. If you are a lawyer with the technical prerequisites you can take the patent bar and become a patent lawyer or patent attorney or what ever you choose to identify what you are qualified to do. M.
