: Jake, : : I am fresh out of college, dirt poor with a big student loan. I can't afford a patent attorney so I am writing a provisional patent with the intent of hiring a patent attorney at a later date to do an actual provisional patent. Even the $75.00 for a provisional is a big cut out of my funds right now. But I have a great idea. : : Question. If I hire a patent attorney 6 months after my provisional is filed, will the provisional ever be available to the public to view? The reason I ask is that my provisional is very revealing as far as how to make the invention. Maybe a little too detailed. I figure the more detail I add the better. : : If my patent attorney completes the utility patent, I am assuming he can remove the uneccesarily detailed information from the provisional. : : I have a great idea, and am sure I can get an investor once I start marketing my product after the provisional is filed. Dear bjr, The important things it to understand the invention in terms of the state of the art and the likelihood of being able to profit from an issued patent. It is a rough world out there. M.
