: : : : : : How often if ever do client sue their patent attorneys. I was at a party this past weekend, and an attorney told me that sometimes clients have been known to sue their patent attorneys. He did not say whay, but I assume because of shoddy work. Am I right? Why is this?

: : : : : It is called money!!!!

: Mr.A. you are not making sense. It is not just me that does not understand your responses but many people that read this forum. You are too smart for us.

:
: : Dear Ideal,

: : It is because I know that the general public usually cannot have the professional insight to understand the subtleties of the law and fact and because there are non professionals and even lawyers that are more interested in the money than the client that I have adopted and use my service marks.

: : : Mr.A. why would you need more information? Just refer to your reality check. You know as well as I do, that you would be hard pressed to find legal council that would turn down someone that wants to file a patent application. They string them along for a couple of years and then tell the inventor "sorry the patent has been rejected". Council has his/her money and the inventor has lost his/her time and money. That is what you preach----..right?

: : : : Dear Jdeal,

Dear Jdl,
Even a bad lawyer has to be very stupid to do something that will result in his being sued. There are Patent Lawyers that will get patents that are of no value but even doing that seldom if ever sets up a situation where the lawyer can be sued and damage recovered.

What I have been trying to say is that just getting a patent may be a waste of time, money and worry. In many instances, patents may be easily obtained.

Just getting a patent does no necessarily mean that the patent is going to be good enough for the inventor to make money.

I can't guarantee that you are going to make money but I can usually warn you off when to NOT spend money on a patent even if you get the patent, since in many instances, it can be seen that even with a patent an invention may not be able to get the protection that the inventor need in order to be able to profit from the invention.
