: : How do I go about obtaining a paten for an idea and how do I go about getting companies to help me take my idea from thought to an actual product? Ideas are not patentable. It is easy to find companies that that advertize that they will help you get a patent and promote the patent for you. There are people and organizations that will make models for you. There is also a One Hundred Million Dollar a year scam encoraging inventors to file patenat applications, which will be promoted. It took 25 year or more to put one group of promoters out of business. One of them had 30000 clients, only three of which made more money than they paid the promoter. The first thing to be done is to have a professional evaluation of what you have. When I do it I call it a Reality Check. M.
