Posted by Provisional Versus Full utility patent on May 08, 2003 at 03:40:53:

If I file a provisional patent May 1,2003 and then 10 months later file a regular patent application, how long do I have before I must file a foriegn application? In this situation, doesn't the patent application get published 5-6 months after my regular patent application is published? If so, I figure this gives me a four month window in which my foriegn application must be filed after the regular is filed. (Am I right?)

I have heard patent attorneys dislike provisionals, but I need to find out an answer to the above question ASAP!
