You may get a patent but in the end the value of the patent may be worthless dependant upon the claim scope you are actually able to achieve. Additionally, you need to be very careful about enablement and best mode requirements.

: As a final word, if you did in fact invent something and it later was patented by a company. You should know that the U.S. is a first to invent system which means even if the company has a patent, it may not be worth anything of someone else was first to invent. If you have saved your paper work and proof of your date of inventio, you might wish to contact an attorney to negotiate with the company.
