Degree from British University (Oxford) for Patent Bar[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Patent Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Brian T. Warren on April 29, 2003 at 13:56:42: I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and doctorate from a British University (Oxford) and want to take the patent bar. Reading the General Requirements Bulletin, there seem to be a couple of problems. The first is that the bachelor degree is not titled exactly "General Chemistry" - the certificate refers to "The Final Honour School of Natural Science: Chemistry". The second is that the university does not provide anything that looks remotely like an American transcript with courses, semester hours and individual course grades. The degree is evaluated in one big "final examination" at the end of the course rather than lots of little ones along the way. Documents available from the university are a degree certificates, and a "statement of academic record" - contains essentially the same information as (and looks like) the degree certificate, along with matriculation date. With this, will I be able to satisfy the beaurocrats at USPTO that I am qualified to take the patent bar? Brian
