Hi, I am a patent examiner with PTO. I've been there for almost 2years and feel like I should get back into industry to get some applied engineering experience before I get into lawschool. WHat do you guys think? I dont want to be typecast as a govt bureaucrat who used to be an engineer but is not a paper shuffler. I know the basics of patent law by now,a dn have seen many cases go through their prosecution life cycles. In addition, I would like a traditional background in engineering to fall back on in patent law doesnt work out. In view of this, would I be hurting my prospects in the IP industry by leaving the pto to get some industry experience???
