Pattent Attorney Career

I have a few brief questions. I recently began my 3rd year on my BA degree, yet still have no solid idea about what sort of career I would like. Within the past month, I began to look into the information law field. My problem is that there is quite a lot of conflicting information on the net, and I would like to know what I'm getting myself into before I take the plunge into applying for law school.

My BA would be in microbiology (most likely), and I would eventually want to become a Patent Attorney working for either a large corporation or a private practice.

Is there much demand for PA's in the microbiology or zoology field? If so, what sort of compensation could one expect?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.
