: I am the co-owner of a custon motorcycle shop. I have an idea that will blow away the entire industry. I am need to know what I have to do to get a patent for it. How do I start the process? What is the average cost and don't just say it is expensive.

Even worthless patents are not inexpensive. Understanding how to protect an invention before even the patent application or search, is important.
