: : I have the ability to define a new insurance product for the natonal market. : : However, to obtain financial backing and the legal support for filing the product with the states, I will need to disclose the details to a large insurance company. : : Once the details are disclosed, they could use it without me unless I have some type of proprietary hold on the product definition itself. : : Could a patent be obtained for something like this? : : Are there specialist available for this type of product? : Under a recent Supreme Court case patents of this sort are available, depending on the disclosure. A good patent lawyer is the intellectual property specialist to deal with matters such as this. : M. Of course a good patent attorney would be appropriate for this issue if it is possible. Are their "specialists" among patent lawyers who would specifically deal with this particular type of patent law? Given the technical nature of the patents and the need for understanding of the products, I would expect patent attorneys would focus on specific "lines" of patent types. I am concerned about using a "generalist" especially given the new nature of this specific patent issue.
