You are right about the hard tasks ahead.
However, its important to understand my legal position; if anytime my employer become interested in this matter. Its quite likely that he will resent, if he realizes it as a missed opportunity.

I have a written employment contract, which requires me "to fulfill my assigned duties, and report to my employer of any new finding or invention". I feel me justified in this matter, because he changed my assignment after reporting of the results. (The assigning of duties has always been informal)

Please advise, whether or not my position is defendable (if this matter comes to it).
