: : : File the patent yourself by going to http://www.uspto.gov they have the forms there, searchable database I did it myself spent 200 dollars on filing mine not 20,000 with a lyer oops I mean lawyer. : JR I can understand and sympathized with the public's discontent with the law and lawyers. The medical profession is similar. I don't even know the minimum patent filing fee I think it is $395. My secretary takes care of that. As far as self filing is concerned, just filing a patent application may be relatively simple. The odds on anyone getting a patent worth as much as the official filing fee are very small. What is more even a legitimate filings may not result in patent claims the offers any protection whatsoever to the invention. If you want a patent that you can put up o;n your wall, then that is different. I doesn't matter what protection you get, you have a document. Just filing doen't mean anything. You may not even get an application number on what you have done. Until your entry I have felt concern for the people who have made entries. I've only met one or two non laywers that had the skills to write a meritorious patent application with good claims. Yes lawyers can be expensive and you have to find a good one that you can trust, but you have undoubtly trashed the money and the time you have spent. M.
