Dear Alex: I am still new but I am closing to final stage of my product and I think I can give you some suggestions. You can see David Pressman's book "Patent It Yourself". It just costs you about $40.00 or you can borrow it from a library. It tells you many means to protect your invention and has all forms attached. Options you can try: 1. Disclosure Document Deposit Request (PTO/SB/95) with $10.00 currently. You can file this document when you have critical change to your product. 2. Surely you need to have a paged lab notebook to record all activities for the invention and have any page witnessed and dated. All original data need to be saved, also those receipts, communication with others. 3. Have some important documents, photos showing your design and prototypes notarized. 4. Surely you need non-disclosure aggrement when you work with somebody else, such as CAD design, prototype maker, market preview; 5. Provisional Patent Application (PPA). It costs $80.00 currently and you can do it yourself with sufficient specification and drawings showing how to make it and how does it work. CLAIMS are not required but you are recommended to think about, since it will force you to find out what are the eccenses of your products. PPA is the best for protucting your design before Utility Patent Application. 6. GOOD LUCK! TIGER
