Protection in prototyping stage?

Hi,

I have a new product that is in its prototyping stage for the proof-of-concept stage.

A few prototypes will be created by an Industrial Design company, and will be sent to some potential investers for evaluation.

In this stage, I hope not to spend ten thousand dollars plus to file a patent yet, because I would like to keep the budget tight in this prototyping stage.

Any lower-cost pre-patent legal procedures (Non-Disclosure Agreement, etc.) can I do now to protect my prototypes?

Any help would be very appreciated.
