If you then take the poor man's patent to a company and try to market the idea/invention to them are you and your patent legally protected? Dear Mr. Slayton, Getting a company to look at an invention or idea in confidence it not impossible, but difficult. In may instances it legitimately gives away ideas that can be used without infringing the rights of the discloser. M. Arthur Auslander
