Knowledge is a good a thing here; it will help you make the best decisions about where, when, and how to get help. Check the web for info; most patent offices have websites with lots of info. If there is a patent deposit library near you, then go and see what they have to offer. Ask about resources, seminars, intentor groups, etc. Get help from a licensed patent professional: a patent agent or patent attorney. Attend meetings of inventor groups; they may sponsor informative speakers. Before you spend significant money on patents, try to be sure that you will be able to make enough money from selling or licensing your invention to cover the anticipated investment and yield a profit for your effort. If you cannot make money with your intention, then getting a patent on it is just an expensive hobby. Larry Williams
