Prospect as a freelance patent agent[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Patent Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by MNCrazyHorse on April 18, 2002 at 02:14:04: Hi, All, I am new to this board, have a question that needs some insight. I am considering taking the Patent bar exam, and hope to become a freelance patent agent. I have couple of degrees in Engineering, and currently have a well-paid job, but time demanding. I want to spend more time with my two little children, while still have some income. One of my friends who has a Ph.D. in Chemistry, did pass the bar couple of years ago, and hoped to develop a sideline business as an agent, but things did not work out for him. I have applied patents on my job with helps from patent attorneys. But my legal knowledge is very limited. The only difference between the situation of my chemist agent friend and mine is that I live in a more industrial city than he did. My question is what are my chances to make a living as a freelance agent, presumably that I pass the bar.
