: THE $80 FOR THE PROVISIONAL APPLICATION I HAVE,BUT FOR THE REST OF THE MONEY ........IT'S A NO NO.. Dear Mr. Shabazz, Give me a puff on that before you throw it away. The world is not going to beat a path to your door even if you have a better mouse trap. You don't even know whether or not you can get a patent and then whether any patent you may get, is of any value. Just getting a patent, even with a legitimate patent lawyer is no guarantee of doing more than spending money. It is not easy to find an investor, particularly before you have a patent or patent application. You are between a rock and hard place. The worst is that even with a patent there is no assurance that it will be bought nor that it is not easy to avoid. One client came to me with a patent that was issued complaining that his invention was in use. A careful study of the patent showed that the claims of the patent did not cover the invention only one aspect of it, which the current used was not infringing. A reliable patent search, or our Reality Check® is going to cost more than $80. The scam artists charge as much or more that the legitimate patent lawyers. The scam artists make $100M+ a year and only one in ten thousand make more than they pay. If you divulge or use your invention before a first patent application is filed, you loose all VALID patent right in almost every country of the world except the US. If you divulge or use in the US before filing a patent application, there is great risk if such divulgation is not in confidence. A reliable patent search may give a reliable answer that you may not be able to get a patent or a good patent. In some instances there may be ways of making money with an invention without a good patent, such as with the Pet Rock. Hey Look! I just saved you $80 bucks. M.
