: Hi,

: I am currently a student in dental school and I am considering going to law school after I complete dental school (2 years from now). Dentistry is not really what I thought it would be. It is very mechanical and there is not a great deal of thinking involved. Last summer I worked for Colgate-Palmolive in marketing and product management and am now thinking of working within the dental products industry.

: Is there a market for someone who has a dental degree as well as a law degree?

: What would the salary be for someone with dental and law degrees? I will have a lot of loans to pay back after I've completed my education so this is something I will have to consider.

: What do patent lawyers actually do in a typical day/week?

: If I decide a career in patent law is something I would like to persue how do I go about doing it?

: Thanks,
: Dan

Dear Dan,

I understand that per capita dentist have more patents than anyone. With the law degree, and likely, with the dentistry degree my probably qualify to take the Patent Bar.

It take a bit of study to prepare for the Patent Bar but it might suit you, from what you say.
