Is patent law fun?

I have been practicing for 9 years, solo practice, PI with a focus on Products Liability, and some general commercial litigation. I am unhappy and/or bored with the practice. My undergrad is EE. I am thinking of trying patent law.

Help!

Is it fun? which part, litigation or the application work? Can a decent living be made without relocating to DC or California or another very large city?
