In many cases, it will be "common knowledge" that a Company has a patent on a Product, but in fact the Company's protection will be quite limited and infringement can be avoided. Speaking very broadly, claims that use the phrase "comprising" will cover creams with additional ingredients, while claims with "consisting of" will not. Unless you have the claims in front of you, it's impossible to get started. But again, you'll want to consult with a patent attorney to look at all the possible issues. Interpreting the claims and comparing them with your cream is not commonsense and requires specialized training and judgment. Good luck.
