Patents just can't be traded as commodities. Just having a patent does not mean a thing unless the CLAIMS broadly cover the invention. There are scams out there to get you patents which the do. One in ten thousand get more than they pay. This is not a suggestion to give up, it is a warning for caution even when dealing with a legitimate Patent lawyer. Patents are easy to get. Good patents still may not make money. The best patent I have ever gotten hasn't made a cent. The company that looked at it and turned it down won a $50,000,000 prized for turning out an inferior product that didn't infringe the inventors patent. M. Arthur Auslander
