There may be a million or two million patents outstanding today. 2k+ lawsuits are some of the good patents creamed off the top. That is what Pearl buys. I did work for Jerry Lemelson, who died recently having more patents than anyone including Edison. He struggled for years before he made a penny and finally made $200M, then he died. Lemelson's patents are being bought and sued on. that is where his $200M came from. That does not change the fact that the scam artist have record of only 1 in 10k making more than they pay. Not every one is a Lemelson. I met him because I had a client who wanted to licence a patent for a Doll Voice. Lemelson had a patent on everything. He was a very unhappy genius. M. Arthur Auslander
