: An idea came to me on February 26th.1999 at 10;00 a.m.. If several exiesting items were combined to make a component perform a needed function, or by combining several known components to achive the same results, would that be deserving a patent? ie; Taking known devices syncronizing them with telecommunicational network systems to serve a need for both mankind and beast. A household device for the world in the new millinieum, if there is not one already in exiestance. Please advise. Thank You, Gerald Vocalino
A new comination of known elements can be patented if it new useful and unobvious. Make sure you do not tell anyone what the invention is execept in confidence. Getting a patent is not as important as getting a patent that give the protection that you need. It is easy to spend money to get a patent and end up with no value. It seem as if there is a warning right in this file about disclosure and seeing a lawyer. A caution with lawyers is to make certain that they are concerned about giving value not just collecting fees.
