I have an idea for an invention, well it's actually an improvement of an existing piece of equipment and I would like to file a paten for it. I haven't the first idea of how to go about it. I live in Norfolk,UK. Dear Karen Brentnall, UK Us make no difference, you have to watch out. It is easy to get a patent and expensive. Getting a good one and making money is a whole nother thing. You must keep the invention secret to protect the validity of any patent that may issue. Disclosure to a professional may be safe, but remember, it is not getting the patent that counts, it's getting a good one and knowing how to make it earn. That is a hard combination. M.
