I do not want distribution or marketing help. I just want to make sure that if the idea is popular that it is legally documented that it was my idea so that no one can steal it. I live in mid Michigan. Do I just fill out a paten form, (which I have never done b4) or do I have to see a lawyer? Thanks Kat Dear Katherine M, You don't have to see the lawyer, but it would be wise to find a Registered Patent lawyer that you can trust. Since patents are national and are filed in the Patent Office in Virginia you are not restricted to finding a lawyer in Michigan. What is more your idea may not be patentable but still have value to you. We handle matters such as this from all over the world. M. Arthur Auslander
