: : : I am trying to find out how to at least get a paten pending for a machine i designed and made. i need to at least get a paten pending or some form of protection.
: : : please help me.
: The first thing to do is not to tell anyone what the invention is unless that person is a patent lawyer. It is not a good idea for anyone to know what you have. Telling others, may even destroy any international rights you have in a patent. Not every invention is patentable, and not every patent can give the protection the inventor needs. I prefer to do a "Reality Check" before bigger costs are incurred. If it looks as if you can get a patent and that it might protect you then I consider filing a patent application. The important part of a patent application is not just its filing but its accurate preparation to get a worthwhile patent. Just getting a patent may only cost money and not give you anything of value.
