One of our library patrons is searching for the same quotation that Stephanie is looking for regarding the closing of the Patent Office because everything had been invented. Our patron thought it had been said by a president in the 1800's. I have not been able to locate the saying in our quotation books. Hope there is someone who can help both of us.
