Genesis Biotechnology Group (GBG) is a consortium of entities and institutes, specializing in the fields of molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, and biotechnology. Our mission is to improve the patient’s quality of life by linking basic science and the development of diagnostic and pre-clinical treatments. The Legal Department for Genesis Biotechnology Group is staffed by seven (7) full time attorneys, providing legal services to an array of entities and institutes, specializing in the fields of molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, and biotechnology. We are seeking a Patent Attorney to work in-house at GBG’s corporate headquarters in Hamilton, NJ to assist a coherent patent strategy to protect company’s IP asset. The responsibilities will include reviewing invention disclosures, assessing patentability, as well as drafting and prosecuting patent applications. The candidate shall assist in conducting freedom-to-operate reviews and evaluating infringement issues and in providing contractual assistance including drafting license and research collaborative agreements, material transfer agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Must have excellent written and verbal skills, be well organized and be prepared to work in a fast-paced, expanding, and dynamic corporate environment. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •5 years hands-on experience as a working patent attorney in the life sciences industry, preferably related to pharmaceuticals, molecular diversity and/or drug discovery. •Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of small molecules, pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, molecular diversity and drug discovery. • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school required and membership in at least one of the states bar is preferred. • Advanced degree in Chemistry, MS or Ph.D. •Admission to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office as a registered patent attorney required.
