The Intellectual Property (IP) Specialist will support the Synaptics IP Department in process and program development, improvement, coordination, and maintenance. The IP Specialist will be involved in different aspects of invention asset management, invention harvesting, outside counsel oversight, employee IP training, and legal budgeting.

Example Job Responsibilities:
•Primary administrator for Synaptics' invention asset management system. Tasks include training employees and outside counsel on use of the system, building and running queries and reports, writing and updating use guidelines, auditing data and procedures, and making simple changes to the system.
•Oversee and refine inventor recognition and award programs, including organizing internal IP events.
•Oversee and refine select employee IP training programs, such as those for new hires and for protecting trade secrets.
•Update or create statistical and substantive summaries of internal IP activities for use by personnel in different departments and levels.
•Some docketing, record archiving, and data validation.
•Advise on, and support the implementation of, changes to Synaptics’ IP processes.
•Support IP budgeting by tracking and forecasting activities and costs.

Required Qualifications:
•4+ years of relevant patent experience, such through a paralegal or docketing position
•Familiarity with invention and patent docketing for U.S. and non-U.S. patent assets using any electronic system (such as Anaqua, Lecorpio, Thompson, CPi, IP Master, Foundation IP, or Patsy)
•Strong attention to detail. Strong organizational, teamwork, and communications skills

Preferred Qualifications
•Certificate, Associate degree, or Bachelor's degree in relevant area
•Experience in coordinating and managing small projects involving multiple people
•Familiarity with online databases such as the USPTO, Public and private PAIR, espacenet, PACER, and commercial patent search tools
•Experience with annuity payment systems and processes
