To ensure continuity of its commercial success, the Company is seeking to appoint a European IP Counsel to be based in Hamble, Hampshire, who will support all Intellectual Property activities in Europe. The Role: · Oversee all Intellectual Property issues arising from company activity in design centres throughout Europe. · Provide strategic IP opinions, legal advice and education to European IP staff to ensure compliance with U.S. and European patent law requirements and best practices. · Promote the generation of patentable inventions, including forging the necessary close working relationships with both inventors and management. · Assess the impact of new developments in the fields of U.S. and European IP law on Atmel’s business, and advising internal clients accordingly. Candidates should possess the following profile: · Qualified European Patent Attorney. · Degree educated in Physics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant subject matter. · Significant practical exposure to U.S. patent law, preferably through work experience in the U.S. or through working in the foreign office of a U.S. law firm or corporate legal department. · Fluency in English.
