Contact: www.gore.com/careers
Company\Firm: W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc.
Job Description: W.L. Gore & Associates develops extraordinarily creative products in a company whose culture is as unique as its technologies. Gore is a place where business success and personal satisfaction don't have to compete. Where everyone is an associate. And where inclusion in Fortune magazine's list of "Best Companies to Work For" has been an annual event.

Our rapidly growing Medical Products Division is seeking an Intellectual Property Technical Specialist to help manage important intellectual property activities in support of on-going and anticipated business operations relating in particular to catheters and medical device delivery systems.

Intellectual Property Technical Specialists at Gore are an integral part of our business and legal teams. In our team based environment, you will be working on cutting-edge technical and legal issues that are found only at the forefront of research and development efforts.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

· Supporting internal legal and product development teams relating to catheter based delivery systems for interventional devices.

· Interfacing with the legal group relating to patent drafting and prosecution including claim drafting, response and overall portfolio strategies

· Supporting our legal group with freedom to practice, patentability and patent validity analysis including intensive patent and non-patent literature database searching.

· Providing proactive prioritization, strategic consultation and cultivation of the intellectual property portfolio in support of business unit intellectual property needs.

· Counseling, training and mentoring of internal associates and suppliers on intellectual property issues.

· Identifying and enforcing Trade secret matters

Qualifications:

· A bachelor's degree in mechanical sciences or engineering is required or a graduate degree with broad based mechanical engineering skills is highly desirable. In lieu of a degree in the mechanical arts, experience working with interventional medical devices and/or catheter based delivery systems is required.

· A registered Patent Agent with detailed knowledge of patent laws and regulations is required. This is not a role for an attorney.

· A minimum of three years experience in the patent or intellectual property field is required. Candidates should have patent drafting and extensive patent and non-patent literature searching experience.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong business acumen to facilitate and appropriately liaise on issues between technical and legal colleagues.

· Flexibility and adaptability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced, multi-disciplined team environment. Previous experience working hands on with a product on a manufacturing floor preferred.

· Demonstrated curiosity and passion regarding Gore as an enterprise, our technologies (specifically our medical devices) and our unique culture.

All interested applicants must apply online at www.gore.com/careers to be considered for this position.
