I've had some experience with Nerac.  They are very good, very thorough, and their people are at least somewhat expert in the technology area.  The other plus for them is that they have an extensive group of technical databases they can search, not just patent literature.  I do recall they're quite expensive, however.

NERAC isn't best designed for traditional prior art searches, however.  I've used each of the companies on this list and have always gotten the best results from Landon.  They also have extensive non-patent and technical literature resources, and have the fastest turn-around time.  They are also on the expensive side, but if I can have my searches done well in a timely fashion, it's worth the extra $

I work for a national patent prosecution firm and regularly use search firms.  I have used NERAC often in the past but I have been disappointed with their results and they are too expensive.  I recently have sent searches to Mogambo Solutions (?? what's with the name??) anyway I must say their quality, turnaround time and cost was the best I have seen.  All I know about them is that it was started by some former PTO Examiners and they are in Alexandria.
