Will patent attorneys initially assess likelihood?

Hello, I am interested in getting an attorney to help me with my non-provisional patent application and I wanted to know if they will be honest about the likelihood it will be accepted?  I am prepared to spend thousands of dollars on it, even with the possibility I might not get it, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I knew the odds of getting it.  Typically, will attorneys tell you upfront or will they just try and get your business?  Thank you for reading.

It would depend on your request to a prospective patent attorney or agent.

For example, whether you will be paying just to get to the door or whether you will be paying to get through the door.

Your question relates to patentability and you will be charged additionally unless you have a flat-fee contract in one packet (patentability, filing and prosecution).

It would be better for a long run to get patentability searches done to better assess your invention although it is not required.

Thank you very much for the reply.  Could you give me a ballpark estimate on how much patentability searches cost when done by a professional?

It depends on the level of searches (basic, extensive, etc).  I have seen people charging from $250 to $3000 per case.

Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation.  During that consultation, I should also be able to provide you with an accurate estimate for any services.
