Can someone explain to me the basics about PCT priority? I.e. I filed a provisonal and want to convert to a regular application and file a PCT. Do i have to file before a year goes by or can i file it exactly one year later without losing priority, say my provisional was filed on July 28, 2005. When is the last day to file my PCT? July 27th, 2006 or July 28th, 2006? Is there a statute I can review? Do i have to worry about time zone differences if I use the European patent office? Thanks in advance for the help.

The deadline is the 28th. The applicable law is the Paris Convention. I believe there's a copy in the MPEP. It's very explicit about that particular rule. Regards.

If you use the USPTO as the Receiving Office, then time zone differences shouldn't be a problem.
