Title: IP experiences from abroad
Post by waterville on Jul 31st, 2007, 7:27am
Hi, I am currently working in ASIA as a patent engineer handling US prosecution.   According to the www.managingip.com magazine ranking of the IP firms in their respective countries, my firm rank #2 in 2007.

At the same time, I am planning on to relocate back to US next year to get my JD.  I want to address this question to those who work in the US firms, is my current experiences in ASIA considered creditable?  Certainly US firms look at the candidate's creditinals(degrees, experiences) when they recruit, but what other tools do they also use to gauge whether the candidate's experiences from ABROAD are considered creditable.  Do they use reputable ranking survey or word of mouth as a benchmark?  For example, a reputable Mangeingip magazine ranks my firm second, but it may mean nothing when the US firms look at it.

Thanks

:)
