Title: Patent litigation - exit options?
Post by pooparmoomar on Oct 25th, 2006, 10:09pm
Hi.

I start next fall as a first-year associate in a GP firm doing patent lit.  Here are my questions:

1. If this firm doesn't work out for me in a few years, can I go in-house?  Or am I stuck doing patent lit forever (at another firm)?

2. Is it true that if you want to lateral, you should do it by your 4th or 5th year?  What happens if you get the boot in your 6th year?  Unemployment office?

3. What should I do in my final semester to prepare for biglaw practice?  Besides worrying about the bar and drinking?

Thx.

Learn to meditate or the like. You will need a constructive way to deal with the pressure and the anxiety that comes with it. Drinking as stress relief is a slippery slope.
