Title: Solo Patent Practitioner and Malpractice Insurance
Post by Solo PA on Oct 24th, 2005, 11:38am
I'm considering starting a solo patent practice in Virginia and was looking for advice from others who have successfully done this. I've got 3 years of heavy prosecution experience at a major firm, but my biggest barrier currently is finding an insurance carrier that offers malpractice insurance to solo practitioners.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Solo PA

Maybe you should look at offerings through NAPP.  You have to be NAPP member, but they do offer liability insurance to members.

Thanks for the suggestion.  They do offer coverage and at relatively reasonable rates, so it might actually be affordable for me to give solo practice a try without committing to 6K of insurance right off the bat.

Jamison  insurance out of New Jersey offers decent rates.
