Experience abroad is of any usefulness?

Hello, everyone I am hunting for a job as a patent agent. I think my background is unique. I came to the midwest last year from China. When I was in China, I worked as a patent agent for 1 year and as a patent examiner for 2 years. I got a Ph. D's degree in physics from a top 3, if not number 1, university in China. I passed the patent bar exam recently. Is it possible for me to get a patent agent job? Any comments and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

| Sure it's possible. Ultimately, you know your background than any strangers on this forum. And you know which parts of your background are relevant to the type of work a U.S. patent agent performs. On your cover letter, you may consider including the reason why your experience abroad is useful for a job as a U.S. patent agent. If your work was in English, you may want to include writing samples as well.

Find out from the USPTO webpage which firms have a lot of clients from China. Your language skills should be a great plus.

How would you go about doing that from the PTO webpage?

go to the patent or patent application advanced search at the PTO webpage (sorry, I can't post a link here) and type 'acn/ cn' or 'icn/ cn' you will get a long list of patents and patent applications. click on those and see who the agent or the firm is.
