to get into consulting is difficult if you're not coming directly from undergrad.

Best bet is to go to recruiting events or have a buddy refer you in.

Did you have any work exp b/f going into Law?

Yeah, I have a few years of engineering related work experience before I went to law school. I'm not that far out from undergrad. Hopefully these consulting companies will view my engineering experience more favorably.

Thanks.

Wow, I'm pretty much in the same position as Good Call (trying to move from IP -> IT consulting).  I have a background in CS/EE, and I've worked as a patent agent for a few years now.

Igbobobo, I'd really like to talk to you about IT consulting (what are the interviews like, what characteristics are they looking for, etc.).  In return, I can answer any questions you have in regard to working at an IP firm (e.g., what IP attorney's do all day, etc.).

If interested, shoot me an email at timmonsDOTjakeATgmailDOTcom.

htc100:

I'm also curious as to why you are leaving from a patent agent to an IT consultant.  As mentioned before, I am considering both consulting (more so, business/management) and IP law.  I'm supposed to start soon at a law firm doing IP work.

If you could briefly explain what "IP attorneys do all day," based on your experience, that would be great!

Thanks in advance!
