Patent work eligible for PE work requirement?

Hello all,

I am a third year law student, mechanical engineer, and registered patent agent currently working for a small IP firm. I am considering taking the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, but I am concerned that working as a Patent Agent/ Attorney will not meet the mandated requirements for Engineering experience in order to sit for the PE exam. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had to rely on Patent Agent/Attorney experience in order to sit for the exam?

Thanks

Why are you considering taking the FE exam when you are already an engineer?

You have to take the FE and then work for so long with it in order to sit for the PE. I'm considering obtaining the PE certification.

The requirement is usually working 4 years under another PE engineer.

I am interested as well.  But why do you want to get the PE?
