I am just starting my job search in NYC and the surrounding area (PhD in Microbiology from a medical school program). I am planning to take the Patent Bar soon after I graduate.
I am trying to get a feel for who the major players in the area are who hire scientists with specialties related to healthcare and biology are? What titles of jobs should I be looking to apply for (Patent Analyst, Technical Specialist, etc.). Are there professional organizations I can get involved with?

also, you might want to think about going inhouse in one of the medical/pharma giants in NJ...
depending upon what qualification you apply with (with or without pat bar certification), you may apply for tech. spec. / patent agent positions...

[I have a masters degree in Civil Engineering and I am working for a consulting firm in US for almost 3 years. I passed the patent exam last month. I am trying to find out the job prospects for me as a patent agent in NYC; which companies hire patent agenst with engineering background. If anybody can help me with this.
