Best way to get experience?

Background is BSME, JD, & State Bar

I passed the PTO registration exam last month and have been searching intensely for jobs ever since.  All the firms want prosecution experience, presumably because they don't want to invest in training entry-level associates.

I'm almost ready to go starve in D.C. working at the PTO.

Do you guys think experience as an examiner is as valuable as prosecution experience?

Why or why not and to what extent?

-Thanks
