Gee, does bio pay more?  I have a PhD in physics.  About a year ago, I spoke to a lawyer in a large IP law firm in DC to get some background info.  At the time I was working in a large telcom corporation which outsourced a good chunk of work to the law firm.  A patent attorney in my company put me in touch with an attorney who would give me straight answers.  Since I didn't have previous patent experience, he told me that my starting salary would be in the 55 - 60 K range.

I forgot to mention that I have 23 yrs experience in industry, not fresh out of grad school.
