Hey I'm starting to looking into a career as a patent prosecutor and I was wondering if they can travel at all. I would love a job where I would occasionally travel on business around the world, to europe, asia, etc. is this ever the case with patent lawyers? Does it help if they speak a second language (german)?

Others may have a different read, but most patent practitioners I know do not travel and, especially, do not travel internationally.  If I were to choose a language, I'd pick a Pacific Rim country like Japan or China.

In my roughly three years or being a patent agent, I have traveled a few times.  My one international trip was to the Dominican Republic.  Most of the travel in my firm is to visit clients/potential clients or to attend hearings at the USPTO in Alexandria or at the EPO in Munich.
