I've heard that the uspto is so competitive in the biotech areas that you need a Ph.d to get an examiner position?  I have a law degree and finishing up a M.S. degree in biotech, along with being a current patent agent.  Shouldn't my resume be stronger than a Ph.d given my knowledge of the MPEP.
In addition, why is a Ph.d held in such high regard compared to an M.S in the patent legal arena? Most all of the hours beyond an M.S. to a Ph.D are solely to that individuals research in one specific area. Likelihood of any individual even building a significant portion of their legal portfolio in that specific area would be highly unlikely, while  an M.S. has just as much technical training in all other areas.
